Sometimes you have to tear yourself away from the computer and go to soccer practice with the kids or outside for fresh air. While we all cherish these breaks, some would like to keep working without lugging around a full-sized laptop. Mobile apps for your phone or tablet can help you stay in touch while you’re on the move. Here are some apps that we think would help instructors and students with King’s resources:
Panopto – Android | iPhone | iPad
Panopto’s app delivers lectures to you formatted for your screen. The regular site can take up extra space in laying out information, but with the app, it’s all set up to fit what you need– shared content and the presenter.
Note: When the app asks you for a server, it’s http://kings.hosted.panopto.com
Turnitin – iPad only
Grade Turnitin submissions on the go, even away from wifi, with this app. You can sync papers and feedback with Turnitin when you get back to a wifi connection. This makes using Turnitin’s markup, rubric, and plagiarism tools even easier for teachers who need a break from being tethered to the desk.
Moodle Mobile – App Store | Google Play Store
Built for mobile, the Moodle Mobile app allows you to have a streamlined experience interacting with courses on your smartphone or tablet (Apple & Android only). Access files, upload assignments, download files, and much more. (You can take quizzes, too, but you might want to take them on a more stable device than your phone, depending on your preferences.)
