Faculty Council met for the first time this year on September 8, 2017. We reviewed and discussed the role of faculty governance, specifically the C and T Committee and Faculty Council, in the ongoing Core revision process; we discussed the response from Father Ryan to our recommendations regarding how the recent increases in health care costs might be offset by a salary increase for both faculty and staff (a copy of our letter, as well as Father Ryan’s response, will be posted to the Sharepoint site). I also asked the committee to consider volunteering for a subcommittee that will research best practices regarding faculty involvement in college-wide budgeting issues. Finally, we discussed the upcoming Town Hall meetings and our expectations for them. These meetings are informal opportunities for faculty to ask questions, voice concerns, and weigh in on matters of importance to us. Please consider attending one of them; they are scheduled in the Snyder room on Sep. 20 at noon, and Sep. 21 at 3:30.
